Nick & Nicole’s Love Story
How did you two meet?
I went to Ramapo College with Nick’s mutual friend from Paramus Catholic. It was July 2007, and our friend was having a get together at his house. Nick was coming home from a concert and didn’t feel like going, but his friend Geo insisted they stop by. We met at the party and exchanged numbers, and the rest was history!
How did Nick propose?
Nick proposed to me in front of some very important people in my life: my students. Nick knew proposing in my classroom was not only special but made for an amazing memory for my kids. It was the end of the day on a Friday in May. Right before packing up my administrators walked in with Ipads and notepads- I immediately thought I was getting observed. As I began to get my typical butterflies before an observation, I noticed that my mom and dad also walked into my classroom. I was so confused I didn’t realize Nick was already down on one knee in front of me! Of course, I said yes! He had also arranged for our families to get together that night for a small get together to celebrate.
Why did you choose the Westmount Country Club?
We always knew we wanted to get married at the Westmount Country Club, especially because there is some history for Nick. When Nick was younger he worked there with his childhood best friend. (Who happens to be getting married at the Westmount this June!) Along with experiencing working at the Westmount, Nick’s cousin got married there in 2011. We had such an amazing time, we knew this was where we wanted to one day get married too! We never even looked at any other venues, Nick and I just knew that the Westmount was the place for us.
Do you have any memorable moments you would like to share?
While there were so many memories from such a perfect day two that were very special was having my students attend the ceremony outside in the courtyard. Seeing them dressed up and sharing such a special day with us was a highlight of our day! Another memorable moment was the first dance with my dad because it turned into a medley of songs with a choreographed dance.
Are there any wedding vendors you would like to highlight?
Wedding Venue: The Westmount Country Club
Floral Decor: Atlas Floral Decorators

Do you have any tips for other Engaged Couples?
Book as early as you can! We had a 13-month engagement, and since we knew we absolutely wanted to get married at the Westmount, we set up a day to meet with Stephanie within two weeks of getting engaged. Afterward, we quickly booked the big vendors, such as photography and music. We didn’t want our top choices to be booked for our day.
Another piece of advice is to not over think the details and do it your way! We had two goals in mind- for our guests to enjoy the food and have a great time! At the end of the day, guests may not remember the exact flowers you had, the color of your napkins, or your cake topper, but they will remember how great of a time your wedding was! Guests still tell us how amazing and delicious the food was at the Wesmount.
Also, don’t worry about the little things that may go wrong during the day! My dress bustle broke, we forgot the grandparents’ flowers on the dining room table, and one of our flower girls got camera shy the last minute before walking down the aisle. We quickly realized it was no big deal- overall, the entire day was perfect! We got to get married and celebrate in front of our family and friends, so what could have been better? (Although going to Disney for part of our honeymoon was a close second.)
